MacPherson seeks change in fortunes

20th November 2008

St Mirren manager Gus MacPherson feels his side are due a break in November after being hit by the curse of the manager of the month award.

MacPherson won the Clydesdale Bank Premier League managerial prize for October after leading his team to a shock triumph over Rangers.

However, Saints followed back-to-back wins with failure to score in four matches before Franco Miranda hit the net in last weekend's 2-1 defeat at Ibrox.

MacPherson said: "In those four games, we felt we didn't deserve to lose any but we lost three and we felt that was tough on us. But that's the SPL for you, it's a real fine line between winning and losing.

"It's so evenly-matched this season that you need those breaks, and you have to capitalise on them when they come your way.

"A lot of people mentioned that you get manager of the month and it's a curse. But we knew November was going to be really tough."
