Locke relishing Ayrshire derby

1st December 2008

Kilmarnock club captain Gary Locke admits the prospect of a Homecoming Scottish Cup derby against Ayr is "mouthwatering".

Locke believes the alternative of a trip to face junior side Lochee United is also intriguing.

Killie face an away game against the winners of Saturday's third-round tie between Lochee and Ayr, which was called off first time around because of the cold weather on Tayside.

Locke said: "We've avoided Rangers and Celtic and have the mouthwatering prospect of an Ayrshire derby if they can beat Lochee, so we are looking forward to it.

"Whether it's Ayr United or Lochee, it will be a big, big game. It will be a big game for ourselves, especially if we play Ayr United. It's a derby game and there will be a full house, I would imagine."

Locke admits he knows little about Lochee but he would expect a difficult match, adding: "If they have beaten Second and Third Division teams to get there, they merit their place."
