Garner wants to kick on
1st December 2008
Nottingham Forest match-winner Joe Garner is hoping Saturday's win over Barnsley is the start of an upturn in the club's fortunes while insisting all of the players at the City Ground are behind boss Colin Calderwood.
The striker's 36th-minute header proved to be the difference as Forest edged past the Tykes 1-0 to move to within four points of safety.
The win also lifted the pressure on under-fire boss Calderwood, but Garner is desperate for Forest to put a solid run together and prove they are good enough for the second tier after securing promotion from League One back in May.
"We have just come up from a the league below so it is always going to be difficult to adjust, but hopefully we have turned the corner now and a few more wins and we can move up the league," said Garner in the Nottingham Evening Post.
"There has been a lot written but all the lads are behind the manager and the fans can see we have been playing well, it just has not gone right.
"We have to go out there and pick up good results and that is what we have done. All the lads are behind the manager."
