CC keen on triple threat

4th December 2008

Nottingham Forest manager Colin Calderwood has admitted he is keen to persist with a formation which will see his team maximise their striking options.

Calderwood started with Nathan Tyson, Joe Garner and Robert Earnshaw in a three-man attack in the 1-0 win over Barnsley last weekend but abandoned the approach after 20 minutes as the Tykes started to dictate the game.

But the Forest boss believes the system can be a viable option for the side, once his players learn to adapt to the style of play.

"It is the first opportunity we have had to do it, with the three of them all available together for the first time," Calderwood told the Nottingham Evening Post.

"We had to find a successful formula at home because we have not always picked up points so far, despite some excellent play.

"We have to be flexible and it is something we talked about last week and worked on in training. We will try again with it in the future, because we want to get those three strikers on the pitch together."
