Alberti steps up comeback

2nd December 2008

Matteo Alberti returned to action for QPR's reserves on Tuesday afternoon but could not stop them crashing to a 4-0 defeat by Aldershot.

Alberti, Rangers' summer signing from Genoa, lined up on the right of midfield for his first taste of action following 10 weeks on the sidelines with a knee injury.

The Italian came through the full 90 minutes, but an otherwise inexperienced line-up were well beaten as Gareth Ainsworth suffered a disappointing return to coaching the reserves following his stint as caretaker boss.

Goals from Jason Milletti, Lewis Chalmers, Rob Elvins and a Scott Donnelly penalty gave Shots a comfortable victory at Loftus Road.
