Poortvliet relishing United test

Southampton boss Jan Poortvliet will prepare his team for "the ultimate test" when they host mighty Manchester United in the FA Cup.

Saints were handed the glamour tie of the third round and will take on Sir Alex Ferguson's Red Devils on Sunday, January 4.

"I'm looking forward to it," said Poortvliet. "Sir Alex is the best coach in England in terms of what he has won over the years and I'm curious to see how we will fare against them.

"It will be the ultimate test. We will be going for it and if we take our chances then anything is possible.

"It's another game in another competition and who knows what my happen?"
