Clouds clear over Oakwell

16th November 2008

Barnsley manager Simon Davey felt fate played a part in his side's 2-1 win at home to Watford at the end of a difficult week.

Tommy Smith had given the visitors the lead before Miguel Mostto and Stephen Foster secured the points to cheer up a downcast Oakwell.

Davey said: "It's been a hard, trying week for everyone at the club and it's fitting that we won.

"We had plenty of chances and I think we deserved it."

Davey revealed that Iain Hume was making good progress after suffering a fractured skull in a clash with Sheffield United's Chris Morgan last week.

He said: "Iain's walking around the ward and he's back to his chirpy self. I'm sure he'll have been sat on his bed listening to the match on the radio."
