Hume on the mend

18th November 2008

Barnsley striker Iain Hume has been released from hospital and is recovering at home after fracturing his skull 10 days ago.

The Canada international, struck in the head by Chris Morgan's elbow during Barnsley's recent home defeat to Sheffield United, has been discharged from Salford Royal Hope Hospital.

The 25-year-old, who also suffered internal bleeding, was forced off and had emergency surgery after his condition later deteriorated.

Morgan, who left hometown club Barnsley for the Blades in July 2003, only received a caution from referee Andy D'Urso following the incident.

But Barnsley have since submitted further video evidence to the Football Association, who have confirmed they are still considering whether to take further action.
