Mostto in fitness battle

18th November 2008

Miguel Mostto is struggling to be fit in time for Barnsley's clash at Preston on Saturday.

The Peru international sustained a hamstring injury against Watford last week after stepping off the substitutes' bench to score his first goal of the campaign.

Mostto, yet to start for the Tykes this season, has not trained this week and is undergoing intensive treatment.

The 29-year-old was hoping to force his way into manager Simon Davey's starting line-up in the absence of summer signing Iain Hume, who fractured his skull in the recent home defeat to Sheffield United.
