Parkinson hails loan trio

30th November 2008

Charlton caretaker manager Phil Parkinson was full of praise for his trio of debutants in the 0-0 draw against Southampton.

Jay McEveley, Keith Gillespie and Deon Burton all put in impressive performances to delight Parkinson following loan moves in midweek.

"The three new players were excellent," Parkinson told the club`s official website.

"Jay played with real drive down the left. He's a big, strong boy and he can compete in the air. He really took the game to them.

"Keith is an experienced player, he knows the position and he gives you that stability on the right-hand side.

"Deon's first-half performance was excellent. He held the ball up when it went into him and he deserved a goal. Unfortunately it didn't happen for him and he was cramping up with 15 minutes to go."
