Racon's injury woes continue

1st December 2008

Charlton midfielder Therry Racon could be facing another spell on the sidelines after suffering a knee injury.

The French midfielder only returned to the side which lost 2-1 at QPR last weekend after three months out with a broken metatarsal.

Racon complained of a swollen knee the following day and missed Saturday's goalless draw with Southampton at The Valley amid fears he may need an operation.

"Therry has a chondral defect of the patella and we are going to drain the knee of the fluid and give him an injection," Addicks physio Steve Allen told the South London Press.

"After that we will monitor the injury and decide whether Therry needs an operation or not.

"If he doesn't require an op then hopefully he will only be out for the short term. But it is a rare type of injury and we do not know for sure how it will react to the treatment so we have to keep an eye on it."
