Burton confident of survival

2nd December 2008

Charlton new boy Deon Burton has already seen enough in his short time at The Valley to suggest the Addicks will not be languishing at the wrong end of the table for too long.

Burton, signed from Sheffield Wednesday on an initial loan deal on Friday, made his debut in Saturday's goalless draw with Southampton and is confident his new side can go one better at Blackpool this weekend.

"The draw is a starting block and it's something to build on going into the next game. We worked hard, but tired a bit in the second half," said the striker.

"The results haven't been great over the last few weeks but the team played well together and we got a result.

"A point is somewhere to start from, along with the clean sheet. We'll be going into the next game in a positive frame of mind and if we play like we did on Saturday, there is no reason why we cannot get something against Blackpool."
