Reserve clash called off

Sunderland boss Roy Keane's hopes of putting some of his first-team hopefuls through their paces ahead of Saturday's trip to Manchester United have been hit by the weather.

The Black Cats' reserves were due to entertain United's second string at Hetton's Eppleton Colliery Welfare ground on Wednesday night.

However, the game, which Keane was due to attend, has been called off after a lunchtime pitch inspection.
