Play-offs the target - Mellor

1st December 2008

Preston striker Neil Mellor insists his side are determined to last the distance in the race for promotion to the Barclays Premier League.

Saturday's 2-0 home defeat of Bristol City propelled Preston above Cardiff and into sixth place in the Coca-Cola Championship.

Former Liverpool man Mellor says they are focused on maintaining their rich run of form and claiming a coveted play-off berth.

He told the club`s official website: "We want to stay in front of Cardiff and if we finish the season above them we will certainly finish in the play-offs.

"Everyone is still on a high from Saturday's win and there is a good spirit in the dressing room at the moment."
