Ellington eyes Red Devils clash
3rd December 2008
Nathan Ellington is dreaming of facing Manchester United in the League Cup final after firing Derby to the last four of the competition for the first time since 1968.
Ellington's injury-time penalty gave the Rams a 1-0 victory over Stoke at the Britannia Stadium.
The 27-year-old kept his nerve to nonchalantly roll home the spot-kick for his sixth goal of the competition after Andy Griffin was penalised by referee Rob Stiles for handball.
"Manchester United would be my dream tie as I have supported them all my life. But I would rather play them in the final," Ellington told Sky Sports News.
"The draw has opened up and been kind to us so far. I would like to play United or a Premier League team in the semi-finals, but I want to get to the final and perhaps it would be easier for us to get to the final if we played a Championship side. "
Burnley are the other Championship club through to the semi-finals after overcoming Arsenal at Turf Moor. Watford, who host Tottenham, could join them in the last four while Manchester United face Blackburn at Old Trafford in the other remaining quarter-final tie.
