Hughes: No January sale

3rd December 2008

Stephen Hughes has no intention of leaving Motherwell in January, despite speculation linking him with a return to England.

Derby and Nottingham Forest have been credited with interest in the midfielder, whose contract expires at the end of the season.

But the former Rangers and Leicester player is keen to focus on his football for now and may prolong his stay at Fir Park when he does make a decision.

"I'm enjoying my football here, I enjoyed it very much last season," the 26-year-old said.

"I will probably speak to the manager in the next couple of weeks but, first and foremost, I want to concentrate on winning games and the contract situation will take care of itself.

"I have got to the end of the season, so there is plenty of time."
