McDonald happy at Clarets

4th December 2008

Highly-rated Burnley midfielder Kevin McDonald insists he made the right decision to join Owen Coyle's side in the summer.

Carnoustie-born McDonald, 20, shrugged off the advances of bigger clubs to join the Clarets in a £500,000 move from Dundee.

He steered the Lancashire outfit into the semi-finals of the Carling Cup with a superb brace in a 2-0 win against Arsenal at Turf Moor on Tuesday.

McDonald said: "There were other clubs interested and a few wanted to sign me. I could have gone to bigger clubs where they've got big squads.

"I knew I would get first-team football here and maybe I wouldn't have played regularly at other places.

"But I knew the manager here and it's good here just now. Hopefully it'll continue."
