Moyes realistic over credit crunch
28th November 2008
David Moyes embarks on his 300th game as Everton manager determined to reclaim the club's position in the top six and lead them through the current severe financial climate.
His first job will be to put Monday's shocking performance in a 1-0 defeat at Wigan firmly behind them club when the Toffees face rejuvenated Tottenham at White Hart Lane on Sunday.
But Moyes reveals he does not expect any money to spend in the January transfer window, while wrestling with an injury problem that could rob him of Tony Hibbert (thigh), Victor Anichebe (knee), Steven Pienaar (knee), James Vaughan (knee), Nuno Valente (knee operation) and Louis Saha (hamstring) for the north London clash.
However, Moyes is realistic about the cash situation not only at Everton - currently seventh in the Barclays Premier League - but throughout the game at the moment.
He said: "Anything the club have they will give me, but at this moment I would be surprised if we have some for the next transfer window.
"But that does not mean I am not looking for loans and bargains. We won't be selling, we do not have the size of squad to do that, particularly with the injuries we are acquiring."
