Moyes needs January cavalry

1st December 2008

Everton boss David Moyes is set to look for loan signings when the January transfer window opens, after losing striker Aiyegbeni Yakubu to a ruptured Achilles for the rest of the season.

Yakubu suffered his injury 10 minutes into Sunday's 1-0 Barclays Premier League win over Tottenham at White Hart Lane, where Steven Pienaar grabbed the winner early in the second half.

To add to Moyes' problems in attack, Louis Saha was carried off with a hamstring complaint that will be assessed on Monday - while James Vaughan is set to have a knee operation and faces up to two months sidelined.

Moyes, agreeing that he will have to look for loan deals, said: "That will be where we will try to see what is available.

"The club gives us all the money they can. But as most people know, there are not big cash reserves - so we'll have to do what we can."
