Fletcher can leave in a year - Mixu

28th November 2008

Mixu Paatelainen is ready to let striker Steven Fletcher leave Hibernian - but only after one more season at Easter Road.

Scotland international Fletcher has made no secret of his ambition to play for a bigger club, with Manchester City the latest side to be linked with the 21-year-old.

Hibs boss Paatelainen insists there have been no official approaches for Fletcher, who he urged to stick around for the time being.

Paatelainen said on www.bbc.co.uk: "He has plenty room to improve and I feel that maybe a year or so after working hard then maybe the time is right for him to go.

"Steven himself is very committed to the club.

"He trains fantastically well. He has to work hard on the training ground and during matches."
