Smith has Dutch trial

27th August 2008

Millwall winger Ryan Smith has linked up with Dutch side NEC for a trial.

The 21-year-old former Arsenal trainee, who made four Carling Cup appearances for the Gunners, cost the Lions £150,000 from Derby last summer but injuries have restricted him to just nine league starts.

Smith has made one appearance so far this season for Kenny Jackett's side, as a substitute in last weekend's goalless draw with Northampton. He has joined NEC for training this week, according to the Dutch club's official website.
