Fergie set to be rewarded

3rd July 2009

The Peterborough board are planning to offer their talented young manager Darren Ferguson an extended contract following back-to-back promotions at London Road.

After turning down an interview with West Brom last week, Ferguson's loyalty is set to be rewarded with club chairman Darren MacAnthony set to discuss an improved deal next week for the manager, who is midway through a four-year deal.

MacAnthony told the Peterborough Evening Telegraph: "My jet lands at 8am next Wednesday in Spain and I have meetings scheduled all day with directors of the club."

He added: "Then I'm meeting the manager to discuss his new contract as promised when we spoke at the final game of the season. I find it a massive compliment that he turned down even speaking to West Brom as he was their number one choice.

"It's refreshing to have that kind of loyalty at our club and bodes well for next season."
