Paatelainen will fight potential ban
27th August 2008
Hibernian boss Mixu Paatelainen has vowed to fight any touchline ban imposed for his sending-off in the Co-operative Insurance Cup defeat to Morton.
Paatelainen was banished to the stands by referee Iain Brines during extra-time of Tuesday night's shock 4-3 second-round loss to the Irn Bru First Division strugglers. The Hibs boss was furious with Morton's equalising and winning goals after his side fought back to lead the tie 3-2 at Easter Road.
"The referee didn't speak to me, he didn't ask to see me so I take it the matter is closed and nothing will happen because nothing should happen," said Paatelainen, who has already served a two-match touchline ban this term following a spat with referee Brian Colvin during a pre-season friendly at Cowdenbeath.
"If it does, I will fight it because I did nothing wrong, it was absolutely ridiculous," he added.
Paatelainen admitted venting his frustration at Brines, including throwing a towel to the floor in disgust, but denied any behaviour which would warrant his dismissal.
If the SFA look unfavourably on the matter, Paatelainen could be banned from the dugout for four matches.
