Poortvliet keen to keep loans

4th December 2008

Southampton boss Jan Poortvliet wants to extend the loan deals of a number of his players until the end of the season.

Saints currently have five players due to return to their parent clubs at the end of the month.

Chelsea's Jack Cork and Reading's Alex Pearce have made a big impact at St Mary's while the spells of Sheffield United's Jordan Robertson, Ryan Smith of Millwall and Tottenham striker Tomas Pekhart are also due to expire.

"We want to keep the players we have and also those on loan, and we do our best to try to do that," Poortvliet told the Echo.
