Mixed feelings for departing Wright

8th May 2010

Defender David Wright says he he will be leaving Ipswich with mixed emotions when his contract expires in the summer.

Wright, who has been with the club for three-and-a-half years, has been told he will not be offered a new deal at Portman Road.

The 30-year-old has paid tribute to Ipswich's supporters but revealed his frustration at being unable to help Ipswich achieve promotion to the Premier League.

"I've had three fantastic years here and some great memories in that time," Wright told the club's official website.

"I've enjoyed a good relationship with the fans and been lucky enough to have had their support and I want to thank them for that.

"I came here to help Ipswich get in the Premier League though so there is that sense of disappointment that I have not achieved that."
