Wright: We both need points

4th December 2008

Ipswich defender David Wright has cranked up the pressure ahead of Sunday's derby clash with Norwich.

The 28-year-old, who arrived at Portman Road in January 2007 from Wigan and who has also had a loan spell at Carrow Road, believes both sides are desperate for three points.

Wright told the club's official website: "There is enough on the game already being a local derby, but I suppose there is added pressure in that we need the win to take us closer to the top six and Norwich need the win to get away from the relegation places, so it should make for a cracking game."

Wright also admitted he had been taken aback by the passion shown by both sets of fans in his first East Anglia derby.

He added: "I didn't realise there was such intensity between the fans, but I soon realised what the game is all about and what it means to the supporters of the two clubs."
