Foxes back in the pack

13th March 2010

Leicester got their Coca-Cola Championship play-off challenge back on track with a 1-0 victory against top-six rivals Cardiff.

Martyn Waghorn struck the decisive blow after 29 minutes as the on-loan Sunderland striker netted from close range when Lloyd Dyer`s cross was flicked on by Andy King.

Cardiff created more chances but were unable to take any of them as their promotion bid continued to stutter with a fourth defeat in the last five matches.

Jay Bothroyd came closest to scoring for Dave Jones` side but Chris Weale produced a fine late save to deny him.

Amazingly it was the first league meeting between the two clubs this season. Cardiff will not have to wait long for the chance to gain revenge with the reverse fixture in the Welsh capital scheduled for March 30.
