Boss confirms McSheffrey interest

Crystal Palace are weighing up a January swoop for Birmingham striker Gary McSheffrey.

Eagles boss Neil Warnock is desperate to add to his attacking options and could turn his attention to McSheffrey after missing out on loan targets Scott Sinclair and Craig Beattie.

"Gary is certainly the type of player I am looking for, we'd be interested in Gary," Warnock told the Croydon Advertiser.

"But I'm not sure whether we would be able to afford him."

Warnock has also confirmed two Premier League clubs have enquired about wantaway midfielder Ben Watson, who will be out of contract later this year.

He added: "We've had a couple of phone calls from Premier League clubs about Ben - but nothing firm as of yet. Three or four Championship clubs have also been in contact."
