Swans duo close in on new deals

10th May 2010

Swansea duo Andrea Orlandi and Jazz Richards are on the verge of putting pen to paper on new deals at the Liberty Stadium.

Spanish midfielder Orlandi made 31 appearances for the Swans last season while highly-rated youngster Richards impressed with some excellent performances at right-back.

And chairman Huw Jenkins admits the club are trying to tie the two players, along with Fede Bessone, Albert Serran and Shaun MacDonald, to new deals.

"We have offered Andrea a contract and we are waiting for a response," Jenkins told the Evening Post. "Jazz has already received a contract offer, which is almost agreed, while Shaun will have an offer on the table soon when we speak to his agent this week.

"We are also hoping to meet with Fede and Albert's agents this week. Despite looking at trimming the squad, we realise that getting our squad settled is very important.

"While we have had to look at reducing the playing staff, it was vital that we secured the futures of individuals who we feel will play a big part in our plans next season."
