O'Driscoll calls for fringe support

4th December 2008

Doncaster manager Sean O'Driscoll has urged Rovers' fringe players to take their chances after the club lost loan pair Steve Brooker and Shelton Martis to injury.

Bristol City striker Brooker, who scored as a second-half substitute on his debut in the 1-1 draw with Watford, has picked up a calf injury and has returned to Ashton Gate for treatment.

While West Brom defender Martis limped off with a torn hamstring in at Vicarage Road last weekend and is likely to be out for six weeks so he has returned to his parent club.

"It is amazing that we should lose both men at the same time just like that and you start to wonder what you have done wrong," O'Driscoll told the Doncaster Free Press.

"But we can't afford to sit around and cry about it. It opens doors for other players to take their chance and we just have to get on with the job.

"We've started to pick up some points and gone four games unbeaten and it is vital that we don't lose our focus and keep that run going."
