Johnson keen to get deals sorted

10th May 2010

Peterborough manager Gary Johnson is hoping to tie up his summer transfer business by the beginning of pre-season.

Johnson is keen to recruit at least four new signings as well as cutting a bloated squad in preparation for the return to League One.

He said: "The way things stand at the moment I expect to sign at least four or five new players. The number could obviously increase depending on who becomes available in the future or any that might move on from here.

"Not only am I attempting to add quality to the talent we already have at the club, I am keen to do it quickly. I am going to be giving players a little hurry-up because I want to put my squad together as early as possible.

"Pre-season getaways are when the players form the bonds and it can be very difficult for anyone to come into a club after that has happened - not only because they have missed a lot of training work but also because the squad will usually be a tight unit."
