Laws left to watch and wonder
10th May 2010
Burnley boss Brian Laws admitted their superb comeback against Tottenham prompted thoughts of what might have been as the Clarets exited the Barclays Premier League with a bang.
Burnley's relegation back to the Coca-Cola Championship after one season in the top flight was confirmed with defeat by Liverpool two weeks ago but they showed impressive fighting spirit to battle back from two down to beat Spurs 4-2 yesterday.
Laws said: "We missed out on a few occasions when we should have won games. In the summer we'll all look back and reflect that it was this game or that game.
"In the end I suppose we got what we deserved because we didn't win enough games but this performance shows the ability we have at the football club and if we mirrored that on a regular basis we would be still in there.
"But everybody's had a taste of it and liked what it's about. We'll be better for it and hopefully we can utilise the strength of the squad, and add one or two more to it, to help us get back into the Premier League."
