Miller upbeat after knee surgery

8th January 2009

West Brom striker Ishmael Miller has undergone a successful operation on his damaged cruciate ligaments, but manager Tony Mowbray is still resigned to being without him until next season.

The former Manchester City player sustained the knee injury in an accidental collision with Portsmouth keeper David James at The Hawthorns last month.

Miller had just started to show signs of hitting his best form with three goals in seven games before the setback, but he is now recovering from Wednesday`s surgery in a London hospital.

"Ishmael had his operation in a London hospital on Wednesday and it went well and he is happy as can be," said Mowbray. "He is finished for this season but hopefully he will be ready to start for next season.

"We won't set targets for him but hopefully things will go smoothly. Ishmael is feeling pretty positive at the moment.

"The surgeon has told him things went exceptionally well and we look forward to him starting his rehabilitation work soon."
