MacPherson targets confidence boost
14th March 2010
St Mirren manager Gus MacPherson has vowed to improve his side's confidence levels after their 1-0 defeat at Hamilton.
The visitors looked on course for a point until Flavio Paixao headed home an injury-time winner, meaning Accies leapfrogged their Paisley opponents into 10th place in the Clydesdale Bank Scottish Premier League.
MacPherson said: "Confidence is down at the moment, there's no doubt about that, but that's what happens when you don't get results.
"It's our job to get them back up again and focused on the games coming up. Confidence is the most important ingredient within sport and if you aren't getting results it's inevitable that it drains.
"We'll find out about the players in terms of character. They're strong senior players and it's for everyone to step up to the plate because it's only coaches and players who can get us out of the situation."
