Stick with Jimmy urges Miller

3rd December 2008

Aberdeen director of football Willie Miller has urged the club's supporters to give their backing to manager Jimmy Calderwood.

The Dons boss celebrated his 200th game in charge with a 2-0 win over Motherwell at the weekend.

But Calderwood has suffered his fair share of criticism along the way as he attempts to make the club a force in Scottish football again. However, as far as Miller is concerned, Aberdeen have the right man for the job in place.

"I've no doubt in his coaching ability," he said. "I think he's a very, very good coach. I hope the fans stay with him."

On Calderwood's 200-game milestone, chairman Stewart Milne added: "It's difficult for anyone to argue there hasn't been real progress within that timescale. I think we have a much stronger first-team squad out here than we had four years ago. We're up there competing at the right end of the league most of the time.

"Jimmy has tried to give the fans what they're looking for, consistent results and good performances."
